Honda vs Toyota

At about 2:48 pm on February 16, motorist Rachel Bolinsky, 23, of 3 Wiley Lane, who was driving a 2004 Toyota Prius northward on Boggs Hill Road, stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Boggs Hill Road and Sugar Street, police said.

Northbound motorist Victor Vasquez, 17, of 3 Todds Road, who was driving a 2007 Honda Accord, then struck the rear end of the Toyota, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Vasquez a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Guardrail Crash

State police report that motorist Brian Smith II, 24, of Voorhees, N.J., was driving a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, about 10:13 am on February 18, when Smith applied the brakes for traffic conditions and lost control of the vehicle, striking a snowbank and then going onto a guardrail.

Smith was not injured. Smith received an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions, according to state police.

Snowplow Accident

Police report a collision involving a town snowplow truck and a SUV near 43 Taunton Lake Road about 2:30 pm on February 18.

Police said that truck driver Joseph Pratt, 56, of 4 Meadowbrook Road was plowing snow using a town-owned 2008 Volvo dump truck while traveling eastward on Taunton Lake Road, as motorist Scott Willover, 51, of 63 Castle Hill Road was driving a 2010 Toyota RAV-4 SUV westward there.

Police said the Toyota moved over to the right side of the road and entered a snowbank, but as the Volvo passed by in the opposite direction, the Volvo’s snowplow blade made contact with the left-rear quadrant of the Toyota, causing minor damage to the Toyota.

There were no injuries. Police said they took no enforcement.

Four Charges

At about 3:30 pm on February 18, police received a report that a woman was walking in the road and creating a hazard in doing so in the area near the intersection of Glover Avenue and Queen Street, police report.

Police said that they found that woman on Glover Avenue and investigated, after which they charged Kelly Nadelson, 35, of Shelton with walking on the roadway while intoxicated, throwing objects at a motor vehicle, failure to keep prescription medication in its original container, and breach of peace.

After processing, police released Nadelson on $1,000 bail for a March 4 court appearance.

South Main Collision

Police report that motorist Nuno Santos, 37, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck southward on South Main Street about 8:55 pm on February 21, stopped and was preparing to make a left turn onto Peck’s Lane, when the Dodge was struck from behind by southbound motorist Hayden Savoia, 17, of 7 River Run Road, who was driving a 2011 Kia Soul SUV.

There were no injuries. Police report they issued Savoia an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Washbrook Road Accident

Police said a two-vehicle accident occurred during icy conditions near 28 Washbrook Road about 9:11 am on February 21.

Police said that motorist Shannon Damico, 40, of 9 Pine Tree Hill Road was driving a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV southward, as motorist Adrienne Kraus, 38, of 7 Jacobs Lane was traveling northward and downhill in a 2012 Toyota Sienna minivan.

When Kraus spotted Damico approaching, Kraus attempted to stop the Toyota, but the Toyota slid on the ice and struck the Mitsubishi, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Kraus for traveling too fast for conditions.

Intersection Collision

A two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Walnut Tree Hill Road about 10:54 am on February 22.

Police said that motorist Mary Sanville-Ross, 30, of 1 Tanglewood Lane was driving a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder SUV eastward on Church Hill Road and then stopped for traffic conditions, after which Nissan was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Anka Roberto, 36, of 69 Riverside Road, who was driving a 2012 Subaru Legacy sedan.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Roberto a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

VW Hits Honda

At about 1:44 pm on February 22, motorist Alice Dipisa, 49, of New Fairfield, who was driving a 2007 Honda Civic sedan northward near 259 South Main Street, slowed for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by northbound motorist Stephanie Seaman, 23, of Southbury, who was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Passat sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Seaman received a written warning for following too closely, police said.

Vehicle Vandalism

Police report that sometime between 5:30 pm on February 22, and 6:30 am on February 23, someone intentionally broke the left-rear side window of a Saturn SUV that was parked at a Hanover Road property near its intersection with Tamarack Road.

Police ask anyone with knowledge of the criminal mischief to contact them at the police station at 203-426-5841 in reference to Case #2014-3402.

South Main DUI

Police said they received a report about 11:40 pm on February 22 stating that a motorist was driving erratically near the intersection of South Main Street and Swamp Road, so they investigated.

Police said they found the motorist in question traveling northward near 187 South Main Street, so they stopped her to investigate some moving violations.

Motorist Eva Caban, 44, of Waterbury was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive in the proper lane, and for a signal device violation, police said. After processing, Caban was released on $500 bail for a March 6 court appearance.

Glen Road Deer Strike

At about 6:30 pm on February 23, motorist Jon Erickson, 39, of Southbury was driving a 2007 Audi A-4 station wagon southward on Glen Road, when a deer ran into the vehicle, police said.

Neither Erickson nor three passengers were injured. Police took no enforcement.
