SOUTHBURY — The Newtown Parent Connection (NPC) is hosting its Hollywood Spring Gala on April 7 at The Wyndham Southbury, 1284 Strongtown Road (Route 188).
The nonprofit will be rolling out the red carpet for distinguished honorees Pat Llodra, Glenn Nanavaty, and Gene Vetrano, whose continued generosity and support have helped the Newtown Parent Connection assist hundreds of residents whose loved ones are grappling with substance abuse.
Proceeds from the evening will benefit the continuing work of NPC and its mission to educate and empower the community in the prevention of substance abuse — and to embrace families in crisis.
NPC’s programs include weekly Hope & Support Groups in Newtown and Fairfield. These are confidential and welcoming gatherings that embrace anyone who has questions or concerns about a child or loved one’s suspected use or abuse of drugs and/or alcohol. Families requiring assistance in navigating the complexities involving treatment, support, and resources for their loved one also receive personalized support and guidance from the Newtown Parent Connection.
NPC also hosts a Bereavement Group offering a compassionate venue for those who have lost a child or loved one to drugs or catastrophic circumstances.
In addition, NPC’s Educational Forums draw hundreds more together to share best practices and cutting-edge information from a wide range of experts in mental health, parenting, and substance abuse prevention and treatment. These programs include a daylong Parent University, parent workshops, Family Fun Night, community educational forums, Narcan training, and support meetings — all offered to the community and those in surrounding towns.
Admission includes dinner, spirits, access to a silent auction, and dancing to the live music of One Level Down. Anyone wishing to donate a silent auction item can contact Dorrie at 203-270-1600.
Glamorous attire is the dress of the evening with black tie optional. Tickets for the Spring Gala ($125) can be purchased online at newtownparentconnection.org or mail a check before March 16 to NPC, PO Box 187, Newtown CT 06470.
