A surprise attack in outer space forces the Enterprise to crash land on a mysterious world. The assault came from Krall (Idris Elba), a lizard-like dictator who derives his energy by sucking the life out of his victims. Krall needs an ancient and valuable artifact that's aboard the badly damaged starship. Left stranded in a rugged wilderness, Captain James T. Kirk (Pine), Dr Spock (Quinto) and the rest of the crew must battle a deadly alien race while trying to find a way off the hostile planet in this latest action-packed offering in the longstanding series.

Sunday, October 23, 3 pm (Theatre): 45 Main Street, $25, students free, special concert in memory of longtime Newtown Friends of Music President Ellen Parrella will feature performances by Pianist Will Duchon, Cellist Mary Costanza, Pianist Will Duchon, Harpist Wendy Kerner and Violinist Deborah Wong, offering works of Rachmaninoff, Glinka, Mozart, Saint-Saens, Cerha and Strauss, informal reception to follow, hosted by Newtown Friends of Music; 203-426-6470.
