Occupation: I’m a sales manager for Valley Green, Inc, out of Holyoke, Mass. We’re a wholesaler that provides agricultural, lawn care, and arborist products to the professional industry.

Family: I’ve been married to Lynn for 22 years. Lynn has two children, Jeffrey and Christine. Christine is married to Chuck and there are three grandchildren, Tatum, Gabrielle, and Kalli.

Pets: We have a 10-year-old cat named Millie. She’s a calico, Heinz 57 variety.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I’ve been in Newtown for 22 years.

What do you like to do in your free time? I’m president of the Newtown Lions Club, so that keeps me pretty busy. Aside from that, I enjoy golf and I love reading, mainly nonfiction. We like to travel, as well. I’m a volunteer with the FAITH Food Pantry, and secretary of the Connecticut Environmental Council.

Do you have a favorite book? Two books that I’ve read this year were by James Bradley: Flags of Our Fathers and The Imperial Cruise. Both were about the Pacific theater, before and during World War II. Right now, I’m reading a book about ESPN, and how that company started.

Do you have a favorite golf course in Connecticut? I like Orange Hills in Orange. It fits my talents. It’s not too difficult, not too easy. It’s just challenging enough.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I like Cabo San Lucas, at the tip of Baja in Mexico. We started going there about ten years ago. It’s very quaint, it’s clean, and it’s safe. It has outstanding beaches and terrific golf.

What is the best thing about Newtown? The quality of life is the best thing about Newtown. I’ve lived in Boston, Long Island, New Hampshire, and Dallas. After I spent ten months in Danbury, I fell in love with the area. I think Newtown is a very special place.

What changes have you seen in Newtown over the years? There has been more development, and there have been improved roads. The fact that we try to preserve open space is wonderful. We didn’t have a rush hour when I first moved here, but we’ve got a little one, now.

If you could spend a day with anyone, who would you choose? My paternal grandfather. He passed away when I was just 5 years old. He came to this country in 1896 from County Leitrim in Ireland, a small town called Mohill. I never got to know him well enough to talk to him about all of his experiences.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Stay positive, and keep a “Can Do” attitude. That has been especially helpful in my professional life.

What makes you happiest? My volunteer work is very, very rewarding. Belonging to the Lions has been a great experience.
