Occupation: I’m a full-time student at WestConn, studying mathematics. I’m currently able to go to school on the GI Bill. I served from 2005 to 2009, stationed at Fort Siller in Oklahoma, and I was a year in Kuwait and Iraq. I also work part-time at the Game Stop in Danbury.

Family: My parents, Jim and Laurie Borst, live here in Sandy Hook. I have a twin sister, Wendy, and my half-sister, Nicole. My grandparents, Joseph and Barbara Borst, live next door to my parents.

Pets: We have two cats, Tennessee and Kemo.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I’ve lived in Newtown all of my life, minus the years I was away in the Army. I graduated from Newtown High School in 2005.

What do you like to do in your free time? I play video games. I enjoy hiking and backpacking, and I like kayaking, when I get the chance to go. In winter, I snow ski, and I do like to go to movies occasionally, too.

Do you have a favorite video game? I will generally recommend the Mass Effects game series. It’s my favorite right now.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I like mountainous areas, usually in New England. I like to snow ski at Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall, because it’s close, but I like Butternut in Massachusetts, too. There are a lot of trails to go on there.

What is the best thing about Newtown? When I was in Oklahoma, I really missed the four seasons. I do like the woods that we have here.

If you could spend a day with anyone, whom would you pick? I think, Stephen Hawking. I enjoy quantum physics. I’ve read his two books, and I think it would be really interesting to talk with him — although most of what he’d have to say would probably go over my head!

Do you have a personal philosophy? Don’t get stressed. Take each day as it comes.

What makes you laugh? Sarcasm. I’m a huge fan of sarcasm. I like Bill Engvall. He does the Blue Collar TV, and is big on sarcasm.
