Occupation: I’m a butcher at Butcher’s Best, here in Newtown. Before this, I spent about 12 years in the retail and wholesale seafood business.

Family: My wife, Kelly, and I have been married for eight years. We have a daughter, McKenna, who is 5 years old.

Pets: We have a dog, Max, a little Shih-Tzu, that is 8 years old. He was my wife’s birthday present the first year we were married.

How long have you been in Newtown? I have only recently started working with Steve Ford at Butcher’s Best. We live in Bethel, but Kelly has been a teacher in Newtown since 2003. She’s a fifth grade teacher at RIS.

What do you like to do in your free time? I love sports. I play ice hockey with a team in Brewster, N.Y., and I play softball in the summer. We go hiking and enjoy the pool in the backyard. We do a lot of outdoor family stuff, and there is always plenty of yard work to do. I do beer trading online. There are certain kinds of beer we can get out here that people in other parts of the country can’t, and vice versa. My brother and I started doing beer trading recently, and we try to find unique beers.

Do you have a favorite sports team? For baseball, it’s the Red Sox, and for football, it’s the Buffalo Bills. The New York Rangers are my favorite hockey team. I’m originally from upstate New York, so that’s where the Bills come in.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Probably Disney World in Florida. We took McKenna there for the first time two years ago. That was my first time, too. We’re going back next year. We also spend a lot of time at my in-law’s summer home on Long Island, going to the beach.

What is the best thing about Newtown? It’s the people. So far, working at Butcher’s Best, the people are really nice. Even though Newtown is one of the biggest towns, so far as square miles, it has a small town feel to it. Everyone seems to know each other, and what’s going on.

Do you have a hero? My wife. She works hard and she’s a good inspiration. She loves what she does, takes it to heart, and is just a good person.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Always have a good attitude. Be positive.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? Being in the food industry, you always want to try different things. A nice steak is always good, though. And this time of year, I enjoy the Sam Adams seasonal beers.
