Occupation: I have been in the semiconductor industry for about 30 years, and have worked for Photronics in Brookfield for 27 years. They make the integrated circuits that go into computers.

Family: My wife, Theresa, works at Family Health Care in the business office. We have two daughters. Alyssa graduated from Newtown High School in 2004 and from WestConn this past spring with a degree in elementary education and a degree in history. Nicole is a junior at NHS and the varsity captain for the Color Guard, and is in the NHS Marching Band.

Pets: We have two cats, Champ and Nora. We adopted both within the last couple of years.

How long have you lived in Newtown? Theresa has lived here most of her life and I grew up in Danbury. We moved here in 1989.

What do you like to do in your free time? I’m a first sergeant with the 2nd Connecticut Civil War Reenactment Unit. From April to October, mostly, I’m involved in reenactments around greater New England, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. I’ve been doing that since 1998. I’ve had a passion for history since I was in my teens. With reenactment, you live it, you touch it, you smell it, and you feel it. My kids say I live in the past. I like walking, running, and reading, too. I love to watch sports.

Do you have a favorite sports team? For baseball, I like the Mets. For football, it’s the Dallas Cowboys.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? We like going to Cape Cod, the West Dennisport area especially. My kids like going to the beaches and it’s nice to relax there.

What is the best thing about Newtown? We have seen it grow and it’s not the same as when my wife grew up here. There’s a little more residential sprawl, but it still gives you that little hometown feeling. It’s not really big, but not really small. We like the school system and the people in town.

If you could spend the day with someone from history, who would you pick? George Washington. He was the father of our country and won the hearts and souls of the rag-tag group of men who served under him. I think some of the triumphs he had were underestimated. In more modern times, I would like to spend a day with General George Patton. He was more of a romantic at that time compared with other generals. He always harkened back to older times in how he conducted himself. He was a bit of a maverick too, and very cavalier.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Try to treat people the same way you would like to be treated. Be respectful of people.

What is the best gift you have ever received? Other than being married to Theresa for 25 years, I would say my two kids.
