Occupation:  I am semi-retired. I work parttime for Expect Foods. I also drove for Newtown Florist for about a year. I’ve retired from Pitney Bowes after 27 years. I graduated from high school and have taken a few college courses.

How Long in Newtown: I have lived in Newtown for 28 years. I was born and raised in Stamford.

Biggest Change Seen in Town: The growth in traffic and people. One thing that hasn’t grown with the town is fields for sports, such as soccer, baseball, and football.

Family: My wife, Catherine, and I have been married for 42 years. We have four children. Margaret, 41, and her husband, Thomas Reynolds, live on Long Island. Thomas, III, 38, and his wife, Margaret, live in New Milford. Julie, 37, and her husband, Dan Zee, live in Vermont. Veronica, 26, lives in Newtown. We have seven grandchildren, Colleen, 11, Thomas, 9, Patricia, 7, Maggie, 5, and Karla, 7, Casey, 6, and Callie-Rose, eight months.

Pets: We have a dog, Tye, and several cats.

Hobbies: I am selling magnets, which I do as a hobby. I’m trying to help people feel better. I also give seminars. I run the Men’s Softball Sunday League. I like to go to baseball and football games. We also go to movies at the Town Hall.

Favorite Books and Authors: I like to read magazines, such as Sports Illustrated.

Favorite TV Show: News and sports programs. My wife and I like to watch movies.

Organizations: I am a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. I grew up in it. My mother and father both came from Ireland and belonged to it. It gives scholarships and sponsors the Irish Festival at the Ives Center in Danbury. Because I’m a veteran, I am also a member of the Newtown American Legion and the Danbury American Legion. I was previously involved in the state organization. I’m also a member of the Gaelic-American Club in Fairfield.

Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: I remember one Sunday morning when there were two horses on my lawn eating the grass.

Favorite Vacation Spot: We take a trip to Ireland every couple of years and to the Catskills in New York state every year. We’re talking about a possible trip to Hawaii this winter.

Personal Philosophy: Live every day to the fullest. Enjoy life. You’re here today and gone tomorrow.
