Occupation: I am retired from Lane Bryant in Indianapolis, Ind., where I worked in the warehouse. I attended high school in Korea.

How Long in Newtown: I have lived here with my son’s family for almost a year. I moved from Indianapolis, where I lived since 1973. I was born in Japan.

Family: My husband, Young Won Pak, and I have been married for 40 years. We have three children. Sonya, 40, and her husband, Young Ho Lee, live in Korea. They have two sons, Benjamin, 12, and Andrew, 8. Sung Pak, 36, and his wife, Michelle, live in Newtown. They have a new baby boy, Oscar. Grace, 32, is single and lives in Las Vegas.

Hobbies: I enjoy drawing, painting, and sewing. I’m helping to make quilts at the Senior Center. I like to make things now that I have plenty of time to do it. I made a baby blanket for our new grandchild. I also like knitting and crocheting. It’s so much fun. Making quilts is fun. We also have a garden, part flowers and part vegetables. We have lots of sunflowers.

Favorite Books and Authors: I read a lot of books. I particularly like history books. I love to go to bookstores.

Favorite TV Show: I don’t watch very much TV except for the news. I enjoy Martha Stuart Living in the morning. I love to see what she’s doing, whether she is cooking, sewing, or gardening.

Organizations: I am a member of the Newtown Senior Center. I attend the Korean United Church on Sugar Street and sing in the church choir.

Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: In Indiana, we lived in a flat location. Here, it is beautiful, with hills, lakes, and rivers. Korea is a small country. Newtown reminds me of Korea.

Favorite Vacation Spot: Boulder, Colo. We went to Yellowstone National Park. It was June 12 and there was about six or seven inches of snow in the park. It was beautiful. The weather was not bad. By 10 am the snow was mostly gone.

Personal Philosophy: Belief in God is important, and enjoying your family. I believe in taking care of myself so I can take care of my family and help other people.
