Occupation: I am an oncology therapeutic specialist with sanofi-aventis Pharmaceuticals. I am a sales representative that specializes in chemotherapy, so I visit all of the big chemotherapy hospitals in Fairfield County, the Bronx, and Manhattan.

Family: My husband is Xavier Binio and he works at General Electric International in Shelton. Our daughter Ellen is a Newtown High School senior and our son Patrick is in the eighth grade at Newtown Middle School.

Pets: No pets at all.

How long have you lived in Newtown? My parents moved to Newtown in 1978. I was a senior year abroad student that year in France. Then Xavier and I and our family moved back to Newtown in 1996 from France.

What do you like to do in your free time? I teach the Lebed method, a method of movement and dance for breast cancer patients to prevent lymphodema. I trained at the Dana-Farber Cancer Center in Boston. I teach this dance method at Norwalk Hospital. I’m also a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 70 at Cullens, and I read voraciously.

What are you reading now? I just finished The Road From Coorain by Jill Ker Conway. I also just finished Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love. It’s the story of a woman putting her life back together and she travels to Italy, India, and an island. It was wonderful.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Definitely France. My in-laws’ beach house is in a little town in Brittany. We go about once a year. It’s very laid back and the Brittany Coast is just gorgeous. It is like a sweet, older time, with no voice mail, no email, no way for anyone to reach me.

What is the best thing about Newtown? I would say undeniably, it is the two times a year when the whole town seems to come together: at The Relay For Life and at the Labor Day Parade. I love the relay, how a lot of people come together for a really good cause.

If you could spend a day with anyone, who would that be? I would love to spend the day with any ambassador to a foreign country. I’d like to see what’s involved with our relations to other countries.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Try to do things that make you happy and try to love what you do.

Do you have a favorite memory? I was a home health care nurse’s aide in France during a couple of summers. I remember going out into the countryside to care for elderly patients and I remember the smell of summertime, how fresh and earthy everything was. My patients would tell me stories about how life used to be and it was such an ease of living. They are fond memories.
