NYFS — And Residents Of All Ages — Will Benefit From 24th Annual Holiday Festival

The 24th Annual Holiday Festival will feature professionally decorated historic homes, a Victorian Tea, a Festival of Trees and other family-friendly activities when it returns to the center of Newtown on Sunday, December 6. The festival will run from 11 am to 4 pm at Edmond Town Hall and other Main Street locations.

“The festival brings family, friends, and community together to renew our commitment to assisting those that need a helping hand,” said Layne Lescault, Newtown Youth & Family Servoces board chair and chair of the festival. “Funds raised by the event allow NYFS to see those who are un- or underinsured — populations that are growing in our community due to the present unstable economic times. Their, and our, need is greater now than ever.”

All Holiday Festival activities are convenient to Main Street. Edmond Town Hall, at 45 Main Street, will house a Victorian Tea, ballet performances of Nutcracker, craft fair, and pictures with Santa.

A gingerbread house contest and Festival of Trees will be located at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

Bus transportation will circulate to bring festival participants to a collection of private homes decorated for the holidays.

At 4 pm, Trinity Church will host its annual the service of Advent Lessons and Carols.

Tickets are $15 for individuals and $25 for families (two adults, and two children); each additional child is $5. Tickets are available at Newtown Youth and Family Services, 17 Church Hill Road; C.H. Booth Library; Drug Center Pharmacy, 61 Church Hill Road; Newtown Savings Bank branches in Bethel, Danbury, Monroe, Newtown and Southbury.
