Eleven local painters have coordinated efforts to put together the newest exhibition for C.H. Booth Library. Artist and teacher Claudia Mitchell is being joined by students and painters Robyn Dohrenwend, Bambi Engelman, Meg Gioffe, Martha Glynn, Margaret Hull, Kyra Middeleer, Maureen Rohmer, Michelle Rosenthal, Arlene Spoonfeather and Marianne Zelno for “Here’s To Painting!”

Children’s Programs

*Holiday Sing Along with Francine Wheeler: Professional singer, music educator and Newtown resident Francine Wheeler will lead children and their parents in a Holiday Sing Along on Thursday, December 10, at 10 am, in the meeting room.

The program is recommended for ages 2-6, and registration can be done online.

*Gingerbread House Workshop: Our popular gingerbread house workshop will take place on Saturday, December 12, at 2 pm. Each child will take home a personal graham cracker house decorated with royal icing and an assortment of festive candies.

Register in person at the children’s circulation desk. A $3 material fee is due upon registration, which needs to be done in person at the children’s department desk.

This program is for ages 4-10, and parents must remain in the room with their children for this program.

*The Reluctant Dragon, a puppet show: On Sunday, December 13, at 2 pm, Lionheart Puppet Company will present  “The Reluctant Dragon.”

  What happens when Herold discovers a dragon in the mountains? Can he convince the villagers that he just wants to be friends? Recommended for ages 4 and up, this show is being sponsored by Camp Playland of Redding (CampPlayland.com).

For Young Adults

*Make a Mini Photo Album: Kristen Bazuro will be at the library on Thursday, December 3, from 7 to 8:30 pm, to show us how to make a beautiful keepsake album, perfect for storing those wallet sized school photos. This is the perfect size for display on your hearth or desk, and would make a great gift.

There is a $5 supply fee and the class is limited to 12 participants ages 11 and up. Please register online.

Adult Program

*Book Discussion: The Daytime Book Group will meet on Monday, December 14, at 1 pm, to discuss Devil in a Blue Dress.
