Due to the weather on Monday, April 2, the planned Newtown High School Gala Concert to dedicate the newly renovated auditorium has been canceled indefinitely. Les Miserables, School Edition, which was staged over the weekend of March 23-25.The Newtown Bee, work on the NHS auditorium renovation began in mid-February of 2017. The $3.6 million project also included a second phase of construction, approved by voters at referendum in April 2017 for an additional $750,000.Les Miserables, School Edition, was the first musical production held in the newly renovated space.

A Gala Concert was originally scheduled for the start of January, but weather caused it to be postponed until after the NHS spring musical

The final date for the Gala Concert was set for April 2. Morning snow caused school to be first delayed then canceled, and with the cancellation the concert was also called off.
