NHS Students Participate

In Music Festival

Newtown High School students who participated in this year’s Music Festivals gathered in the school’s lobby to be photographed together.

Andrew Nichols and Kevin Walsh were selected to participate in this year’s Music Educators National Conference Eastern Division Music Festival Chorus. The event will take place in Providence, R.I., and is scheduled for March 15.

Bianca Crudo, Leah Barrett, Jake Eventoff, Alyson Makuch, Kevin Walsh, Mary Kate Hubbard, Zoe DeStories, Hannah DeFlumeri, Katie McMorran, Andrew Nichols, and Daniel McSweeney were all chosen to represent NHS at this year’s All-State Music Festival in April.

According to the Music Department at NHS, 22 students were selected to participate in this year’s Western Region Music Festival on January 16 and 17 at New Canaan High School. Members of the band who participated in the Western Region High School Music Festival were Sarah Grose, Lora Streett, Ian Mason, Chris Mcann, Melissa King and Tyler Grant. Members of the chorus who participated were Bianca Crudo, Jacob Eventoff, Kevin Walsh, Zoe DeStories, Katie McMorran, Leah Barrett, Allyson Makuch, Mary Kate Hubbard, Hannah Deflumeri, Andrew Nichols, and Jake Woolf. Members of the school’s orchestra who participated include Calvin Song, Meghan Loose, Jane Ellen Anderson, Rachel Fintz, and Daniel McSweeney.

NHS student Erin Bell was selected to participate in this year’s Fairfield County String Festival, which will be hosted at Western Connecticut State University on March 28.
