BETHEL - NewArts of Newtown in association with Walnut Hill Community Church is proud to announce a 2016 production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, being created by a team that includes six Tony Award-winners and featuring around 80 local performers in the cast.newarts.org.newarts.org for those as well.

The production will be directed by NewArts Producing Artistic Director Michael Unger. It will have choreography by Rob Ashford and original music by Michael Starobin. Scenic design will be by the legendary designer and Yale University professor, Ming Cho Lee.

Auditions are for locals between the ages of 5 and 75. Auditions will take place at the church September 16-18 and 24-25.

All roles except for Ebenezer Scrooge are available to local talent. Auditions are for non-Equity performers. Callbacks will be Sunday, October 2, between 2 and 7 pm.

There are many speaking roles available, as well as just singing and dancing ensembles. Many children's roles will be double cast (The Mistletoe Cast and The Holly Cast).

Rehearsals will begin October 15 and will be primarily weekends until the beginning of November. There may be some principal rehearsals in the weekday evenings as well.

In November there will be some after school, evening and weekend rehearsals. In December, additional after school, evenings, weekends and performances will be scheduled. Complete rehearsal schedules will be available during auditions.

Performances will be at Walnut Hill Community Church, 156 Walnut Hill Road in Bethel, the weekends of December 9-11, 16-18 and 21-22.
