Newtowners Elected

To Board Of United Way

The United Way of Northern Fairfield County elected a new chairman and four board members at the annual meeting last week. John Kline of Bethel, senior vice president of Union Savings Bank, accepted the gavel from outgoing chairman Steve Rosentel.

Newtown residents John J. Martocci and Richard Gumbrecht were named to the board along with David Berges of Brookfield and Daniel Parcel of Ridgefield.

Mr Gumbrecht, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of GE Capital Vendor Financial Services, is a member of the GE Capital Diversity Council and the Elfun Society, a General Electric volunteer organization. He holds a bachelor in business administration from Hofstra University and an MBA from Adelphi University.

Mr Martocci is president and chief executive officer of Newtown Savings Bank. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut, and is active with the Family Counseling Center, Ashlar of Newtown, the Connecticut Bankers Association Family Loan Program, and serves on the Board of Finance of Danbury Hospital.

Returning to the United Way board are Newtown resident Richard Recht; Stephen Rosentel; Carl Bailey, president of Bailey Financial Services; William Hart of Pitney Bowes-Production Mail and Document Factory Solutions; Susan Nolan, Danbury Children First; Lynn Taborsak; Karen Taylor, Price Waterhouse Coopers;_Susan Thomas, executive  director of the Danbury Regional Commission on Child Care Rights & Abuse; Wayne Shepperd, publisher of the News-Times; Jack Tyransky, partner at Allen & Tyransky.
