The Newtown Renegades beat New Fairfield 9-4, Southbury 7-3 and New Milford 6-0 but came up short twice against Danbury, 6-2 and 5-4, in the double elimination Cal Ripken 11U Connecticut State Tournament at Rogers Park in Danbury this past week.

Danbury and Newtown both go on to compete in the Cal Ripken 11U New England Regional Tournament which opens this weekend at Glander Field since the Renegades were selected to host the tourney.

The Renegades will open the tournament with a game against Eastern Massachusetts at 5:30 pm on Saturday, August 2. With a win, the Newtown team will play Sunday, August 3 at 5:30 pm. The loser of the Saturday game will play Sunday at 12:30 pm as the double-elimination bracket unfolds.
