New Offerings For Continuing Education

Newtown Continuing Education announced a new summer camp program for children exiting grades five through eight.

The Graphic Design and Print Production camp is geared for creative students who want to explore the design tools to create and produce T-shirts, photo manipulations, quick time panoramic movies, original artwork and much more, according to Newtown Continuing Education.

Campers will learn how to use Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator to build projects.

“We are thrilled to offer this new program giving this age group a chance to do something different this summer,” said Newtown Continuing Education Director Elissa Gellis. “The skills they will learn here will be very useful in their future, but more importantly, they will get a chance to really dive into creative design and production in a way that most kids don’t get the chance. And parents can feel confident that their kids are in a safe, stimulating camp each day.”

Graphic Design and Print Production camp is scheduled to run 9 am to 2 pm for two, two-week sessions. The first session is from July 5 to July 15, for a cost of $289; the second session is scheduled for July 18 to July 29, for a cost of $319.

The camp is scheduled to take place at Newtown High School and is open to residents and non-residents. Newtown High School graphic arts teacher Dave DeFeo who has more than 25 years of experience in the field, will be teaching the program.
