National TV Show Spotlights

New Milford Hospital Cardiac Services

NEW MILFORD — A national television segment featuring New Milford Hospital’s expanded cardiac services will air on Saturday, February 26, at 7 am, during “Inside Health with Peggy Fleming.” Residents should check cable listings for the local channel.

(The February program originally aired on February 19; this will be an encore presentation.)

The Broadcast News Channel, which operates out of Texas, chose the hospital after seeing coverage about the advances in treating heart attacks that led to New Milford Hospital (NMH) being the first in Connecticut to be approved for cardiac catheterization and primary angioplasty without surgical back-up required.

NMH’s Regional Heart Center (RHC) is modeled after the successful New York-Presbyterian Healthcare System partnership that launched the hospital’s Regional Cancer Center five years ago. The cancer center was included during the show’s taping last October.

Since sleep issues affect heart disease, the hospital’s Center for Sleep Medicine is mentioned in the show, as well. Officials, medical professionals, and patients who appear in the segment include Chairman of the Board Jim Preston, CEO Richard Pugh; heart patient Diane Martell; interventional cardiologist Hal Wasserman, MD; cardiologist Michael Levine; MD, RHC Nurse Manager Grace Brady, RN; Ganesh Natarajan, MD, sleep center director; and Sally Herlihy, vice president of planning and development.
