Nancy V. Pecora

Nancy V. (LoParco) Pecora, 74, of Greenwich, died July 24, due to complications after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Greenwich to Filomena and“Fanny” Horace LoParco. 

Her loving husband Sylvester J. Pecora, Sr, of Greenwich; her children and spouses Mary Jo Pecora-Runkle and Scott of Newtown, Elizabeth A. and Jim Varney of Colorado Spring, Colo., Joseph A.P. and Melinda Pecora of Greenwich, and Sylvester J. Pecora, Jr, and Alissa of Greenwich; 11 loving grandchildren; her brother Mauro LoParco, and wife Blanche; and her sister Fedelia Brunetti, and husband Jim, survive Mrs Pecora.  Her parents and a sister, Marie Suster, predeceased her.

She worked for a short time at American Cyanamid and Barnes Engineering, marrying her best friend, Sylvester, in 1960. They had four children during their 53 years of marriage. Mrs Pecora devoted her time, love, and energy into raising her family. She was a regular volunteer at Hamilton Avenue School while her children attended, and was a volunteer at St Roch’s Church Summer Feast.

She welcomed each of her children’s husbands and wives into the family as if they were her own sons and daughters. One of her greatest joys in life was cherishing each and every one of her grandchildren. She never missed a chance to celebrate the special moments in their lives. She would be seen cheering each grandchild at his or her concerts, plays, sporting events, and recitals. She instilled in her children and grandchildren a strong sense of family love that will last forever. Mrs Pecora’s mantra was “Your best friends are your family.”

Dr James Brunetti was not only Mrs Pecora’s medical doctor who tirelessly cared for her during her long illness, but her adored nephew. She also had other doctors that cared for her with such devotion Her family is also eternally grateful to the care provided by doctors at the Mayo Clinic.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, July 31, at St Roch’s Catholic Church, Greenwich.

Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Avenue, Greenwich, was in charge of arrangements.
