Fluid muscles froze to hold a pose as ballerinas paused, spun, and resumed their dance on stage at Edmond Town Hall on Sunday, September 25. Quickly they dashed off the stage as music and lighting changed and another group stepped out from the wings and under bright stage lights.

Participating in the special event on Sunday were students from The Graceful Planet, Lisa Mennilli Dance Academy, and Newtown Centre of Classical Ballet & Voice. The event was called "Newtown Dance Collaborative," and it was part of Newtown Cultural Arts Commission's 2016 Newtown Arts Festival events.

Representing the arts commission, resident Terry Sagedy introduced the performers in their "multi-form routines."

Artistic Director Jennifer Cebry offered a message to guests and dancers, printed on the afternoon's program.

"It has been a pleasure to work with and watch all of you grow artistically and performing on what you have worked so hard to perfect over the last four weeks." She praised the many "talented young artists."

The afternoon included a performance by professional dancers from Vivid Ballet. According to the company's Facebook page, "Vivid Ballet exists to promote the true, the good and the beautiful." It is a nonprofit, professional ballet company based in Hartford.

Co-directing the day was Tory Gozzi, who now heads the Newtown Centre of Classical Ballet & Voice, once led by Ms Cebry. Also taking part in the day were Grace Harvey of The Graceful Planet, and Lisa Mennilli.
