May 5 Is Anxiety Disorders

Screening Day

DANBURY — Is fear or anxiety taking over your life? Are you constantly worrying? Does your heart race for no reason, causing feelings of panic? Are you having difficulty sleeping, or are you feeling sad and blue?

Anxiety and depression come in many forms. Find out if you are suffering needlessly from an anxiety or depressive illness by attending the National Anxiety Disorders Screening Day, Wednesday, May 5, at the Danbury Hospital Community Center for Behavioral (CCBH), 152 West Street, Danbury. The free, confidential screening and educational program takes place from 8 to 9 am and 6 –7 pm at CCBH.

Screening participants will view a video to learn more about anxiety and depressive disorders, take a screening test and receive a free, confidential meeting with a Danbury Hospital mental health professional. If necessary, a referral also will be provided at that time.

“This year’s National Anxiety Disorders Screening Day focuses on educating the public about the painful physical symptoms of anxiety and depressive illnesses,” said David Sperling, MD, medical director, Danbury Hospital Community Center for Behavioral Health.

“You can conquer fear, anxiety, and many of the symptoms that accompany them by getting the appropriate help. By participating in this screening on May 5, you are definitely taking a step in the right direction,” he said.
