Matthew Bryk

Matthew A. "Matty" Bryk, 72, of Milford, died peacefully August 1. Born April 6, 1946, he lived most of his life in Connecticut and was the son of the late Matthew and Emilia (Socha) Bryk.

Mr Bryk was raised in Newtown and graduated from Newtown High School. He then joined the US Marine Corps and proudly served his country in Vietnam. After his military service, he studied at the University of Connecticut. He worked as a real estate appraiser for the last 25 years. Previously a carpenter, he also ran his family's restaurant in Newtown.

Those who knew Mr Bryk knew him to be a positive and upbeat person. He loved people and enjoyed going to flea markets and antique shows, working on projects around the house, and weekly events with his community friends.

His longtime partner, Maureen, and her daughter, Marissa; his children and their spouses, Daniel and Melissa Bryk and Allison and Chad Letson; his grandchildren, Eddy and Ciara Bryk; his brothers, Mitchell and Thaddeus Bryk; his two nephews, many cousins, and endless friends survive him.

His brother, Joseph "Sal" Bryk, predeceased him.

Friends and family may call Monday, August 6, from 4:30 to 7:30 pm, in the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. A Sharing of Memories will follow in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
