Mary Rose Antonucci Zolnik, 94, of Meriden died February 10, at MidState Medical Center in Meriden, with her family beside her. Born November 29, 1923, in a house in Wallingford, she was a daughter of the late Annina (DeNino) and Alessandro Antonucci, who emigrated from Corfinio, Abruzzi, Italy.

Her loving children, Lorinda Larson of Sandy Hook and Dr Lawrence Zolnik and his wife, Joyce, of Pleasant Valley, N.Y.; her grandchildren and their spouses, Alex Larson and Kate Zanzucchi of Branford, David Larson of New Britain, Jessica Larson of Sandy Hook, Anthony Zolnik of Cambridge, Mass., Dr Christine Zolnik and Andreas Fehrle of New York City, Leslie Zolnik and Michael Roberts of Ithaca, N.Y., and Michael Zolnik and fiancee Katherine McCarthy of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; her two great-grandchildren; her former son-in-law, Thomas Larson; her former daughter-in-law, Miriam Calvert Navarro; her poodle; as well as nieces and nephews, survive her.

Her brother, Anthony Antonucci; and sister, Dorothy Muli, predeceased her.

Ms Zolnik was retired from The Meriden-Wallingford Hospital, on Cook Avenue, where she began as a nurse's aide and later became the medical desk secretary for the CCU Step-Down Unit all on 5-East.

She loved working at the hospital, having parties and celebrations in her rumpus room, and enjoying her poodles. She took great pride in her work at the hospital, her little ranch home that was her castle, and working in her yard.

Ms Zolnik's family would like to thank staff members at Apple Rehab Coccomo for their compassionate care and love to her and to all of her family; the staff at Midstate who lovingly cared for her comfort; and her neighbors who were friendly, loving, and kind to her.

Family and friends will be received at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, on Wednesday, February 14, from 4 to 8 pm.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be conducted on Thursday, February 15, at 10 am, at Our Lady Queen of Angels on Our Lady of Mount Carmel Campus, 109 Goodwill Avenue, Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St John's Cemetery, Wallingford.

In lieu of flowers, and for Ms Zolnik's love for her poodles and animals through the years, donations in her memory may be sent to the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary Foundation, PO Box 3571, Newtown CT 06470; or at .cvhfoundation.org
