Mary Kraynak Nichols, 93, of Shelton, formerly of Sandy Hook, beloved wife of the late Robert Nichols, died February 14 in Bishop Wicke Health Center, Shelton. She was born on December 3, 1923, in Bridgeport to the late Julia (Kerpchar) and George Kraynak, and has been a longtime area resident.

Mrs Nichols was retired from Newtown Savings Bank, and prior to that had worked for Connecticut National Bank. She was a lifetime member of St John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Stratford.

Her devoted son, Garry Nichols, and his wife, Barbara, of New Jersey; five cherished grandchildren: Garry Nichols Jr, Seth Nichols and his wife Cara, Michele Nichols, Katie Wechter, and Amy Birch; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Juliann Porter of Stratford; and several nieces and nephews survive her. In addition to beloved husband and parents, her daughter, Julie Wechter, her three brothers, and her three sisters predeceased her.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 21, at 9:15 am in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, and at 10 am in St John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 600 Silver Lane, Stratford, for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St John's Cemetery, 500 Moose Hill Road, Monroe.
