To the Editor:

On behalf of the entire Sandy Hook 5k Organizing Committee, we would  like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came together for the Sandy Hook 5k and Kids Run on April 2, 2016! We had roughly 1,500 runners and 200 kids run through the finishing arches at FFH despite the pouring rain and blowing winds. You made the day a huge success!

Thank you to all of our new and returning volunteers, leading off with the NHS Baseball Team for accompanying the smiling speedy kids in the Kids Run, to all of our brave Teacher/Educator Honorees and Family Teams for whom we run, to Dr Erardi and Elizabeth Esty for your inspiring words at the start of the 5k, to all of the dedicated volunteers involved in the planning from the start to the finish line, including Ben's Bells makers all the way to the finish line volunteers handing out the Ben's Bells Medals...and a humble thank you to St Rose's Father Bob and to Deanna Broga, our National Anthem singer, for again lifting us up with your beautiful prayer and song. Special thanks to our beloved therapy dogs for giving us warmth and comfort along the way. And ongoing gratitude again to our teachers, police, EMT's, mental health providers and other first responders on and off the course for your continued brave, strong support, and especially to our firemen who walked the course in full gear once again finishing all together. Truly inspirational!

Finally, Thank you to all of our generous sponsors who again covered the cost of the event allowing 100 percent of all entry fees/ donations to go directly to the chosen non-profit Foundations of the Sandy Hook Families and to The Newtown Sandy Hook Community Fund to help meet the mental health needs of our entire community.

Our race volunteers are the heart and sole of this event, and we are proud to be a part of this community! We look forward to working with you all again next year! Love Runs Through...

Sincerely,

Laura Nowacki and Jenn Burns
