Lois M. Beck

Lois M. Beck, 81, died November 16, at Masonicare at Newtown. She was a Newtown resident for the past 53 years. Mrs. Beck was the widow of Carl Beck. She was born on January 21, 1931, in Jersey City, N.J., daughter of Mabel and Charles Waehler.

Mrs Beck was a homemaker and retired from Taunton Press in Newtown after 20 years.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening.

She loved her family, church, and hometown, volunteering in many civic organizations over the years. She was the chair of the Christ The King Altar Guild for more than 30 years. She and her husband enjoyed traveling in the United States, Canada, and Europe in earlier years.

Four children, Karen J. Kayfus and son-in-law Frank of Southbury, Kathi F. Beck of Watertown, Randall T. Beck of Florida, and Jonathan C. Beck of Woodbury; four grandchildren, Matthew Kayfus, and his wife Rebecca, of Oxford, Adam Kayfus, and wife Erin, of Naugatuck, Rachel Bette, and husband Justin, of Southbury, and Jonathan T. Beck of New Fairfield; four great-grandchildren; two brothers and wives, Robert and Marilyn Waehler and Paul and Lynn Waehler; and several nieces and nephews survive Mrs Beck.

The family would like to thank the staff at Masonicare of Newtown for the care given to Mrs Beck over the years.

A private memorial service and burial will be held at the discretion of the family.

The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, has been entrusted with her arrangements.
