To the Editor:

On April 28, a public forum was held at Newtown High School as part of the World Health Organization's Livable Community initiative. Newtown joined the network of Livable Communities in 2017, and this forum is part of an ongoing process to develop long-range plans aimed at ensuring livability for people of all ages. Local companies, organizations, and individuals contributed directly to this special event by providing materials, food, and facilities.

Friends of Newtown Seniors and the Commission on Aging would like to specifically thank the following: Newtown Public Schools for use of the high school cafetorium; Newtown Savings Bank for planning and meeting space and duplication of materials; On the Mend of Southbury for breakfast; Maplewood of Newtown for providing box lunches; Bagel Delight and Picture This Photography of Danbury for beverages; and Visiting Angels Home Care, Ingersoll Motor Group , the Sports Dome of Danbury, and Mary Ann Jacob for workshop materials. The generosity of these groups and individuals made for a pleasant and productive day. Thanks to all of them for helping Newtown in its ongoing introspection and striving for improvement.
