Linda M. Hayes

Linda M. Hayes, 46, of 40 Great Hill Road, Newtown, wife of Dennis M. Hayes, died on August 29 in Danbury Hospital.

She was born in Norwalk, August 25, 1954, a daughter of Peter Edel and Margaret (Steiger) Brill.

A lifelong area resident, she attended Danbury High School and graduated from the Amerigo Academy of Beauty of Danbury.

A hairdresser and cosmetologist by profession, Mrs Hayes was employed at Hancock Hall of Danbury and previously at Cut Loose of Ridgefield. In early years, she was a member of the wait staff of Widow Brown’s Café.

A lover of animals and most especially birds, she was a member of the Humane Society. She was involved in the production of the annual Residents’ Talent Show at Hancock Hall.

Mrs Hayes was a caring and giving person who placed others above herself. She will be truly missed by those whose lives were graced by her presence, most especially by her family and friends.

In addition to her spouse of 15 years and parents, she is survived by a son, Craig N. Hayes of Newtown; two daughters, Tricia Lynn Edel of Lexington, S.C., and Sarah Kate Hayes of Newtown; a brother, Eric O. Edel of Danbury; a sister, Margaret Sacrider of New Fairfield; and a granddaughter, Jordan Lyndsy Sox of Lexington, S.C.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 am in St Joseph Church, Danbury.

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Friends will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury, on Friday from 7 to 9 pm.

Contributions in Linda’s memory may be made to the Danbury Hospital Development Fund for the Advancement of Oncology Nursing Education, 24 Hospital Avenue, Danbury, CT 06810, in appreciation of the love, care, and concern received by Linda, her family and friends from the Nursing Staff of 8 East at Danbury Hospital.
