Lecture On Women Botanical Artists
WOODBURY â Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust will continue its series of art lectures with a slide talk on âWomen Botanical Artists, 1700-1990â presented by Patricia Carr at 7:30 pm on Friday, March 31. Featured artists will include Marianne North, Isabelle Smith, Mary Delany, and Margaret Mee, all of whom have paintings and drawings collected in museums and botanical garden collections.
These and other intrepid women often went into meadows, fields and jungles for inspiration, contrary to most women of the eras.
No registration is necessary; a donation of $5 is requested. The lecture will be the Van Vleck Studio, at Flanders and Church Hill Roads. Refreshments will be offered. For details, call 203-263-3711.
