*Later this month, the Aldrich Museum in Ridgefield will continue its jazz series with a performance by AVISHAI COHEN QUINTET. The leader of the a self-titled quintet is a former bass player with Chick Corea’s Origin ensemble. Cohen’s quintet will be at the Main Street museum on Friday, March 23, for a 7 pm show. Cohen has two albums on Corea’s Stretch label, Adama (1998) and Colors (2000). Tickets are $20 each and with very limited seating available, reservations are required for this show; contact the museum at 203/438-4519.

*Tomorrow night at Acoustic Café in Bridgeport will be an evening of electric blues “in the traditional sense.” I should say so, considering the evening’s performance features Paul Gabriel, Howie Russel and Danny Aldrich — BLUE IN THE FACE. Showtime is 9 pm, and admission is $8.

Speaking of the café, this month’s WPKN benefit concert will be next weekend’s show by jazz guitarist LENI STERN. Showtime is 9 pm, admission is $10, and the opener is yet to be announced. All proceeds from the monthly benefit shows are sent directly to the (awesome!) Bridgeport based radio station (89.5 FM).

*Following its March 22 show at Toad’s Place, OVERKILL will return to the state again next month. The band will be at The Webster Theatre in Hartford on April 19. Both shows are open to fans of all ages.

*MOPPIN SAUCE will be playing a new location this weekend. The band that pays homage to all things disco, Seventies, bright and flashy will be getting a feel for The Lilly Lake Inn in Wolcott opn Saturday, March 3. Showtime is 10 pm.

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you... on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks, c/o Bee Publishing Co., 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown 06470, or shannon@thebee.com; or call The Bee office at 426-3141.

Shows listed on the calendar at club locations are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
