Knights Of Columbus Install New Officers

The St Virgilius Knights of Columbus Council 185 and 4th Degree Assembly 3230 Installation Ceremonies took place at St Rose on Friday, June 15.

Council 185 Officers for the 2012-2013 Fraternal Year are Tim Haas (Grand Knight), Joe Rahtelli (Deputy Grand Knight), Larry Rice (Financial Secretary), John Barry (Chancellor), Steve Lucas (Recorder), Chris Graham (Treasurer), Kirk Babyak (Advocate), Chris Carney (Warden), Steve Schumacher (Inside Guard), Mike Salvatore (Outside Guard), John Moulder (Third Year Trustee), Jim Tevnan (Second Year Trustee), Tim Reilly (First Year Trustee), Monsignor Robert Weiss (Chaplain), and Father Ignacio Ortigas (Associate Chaplain).

This year’s Assembly Officers are Monsignor Weiss (Faithful Friar), Len Moritz (Faithful Navigator), John Moulder (Faithful Captain), Jud Doyle (Faithful Admiral), Chris Locke (Faithful Comptroller), Tim Haas (Faithful Purser), John Barry (Faithful Pilot), Charlie Hettenbach (Faithful Scribe), Kirk Babyak (Color Guard Commander), John Mead (Faithful Inner Sentinel), Frank Bedini (Faithful Outer Sentinel), John Spera (Faithful Trustee Third Year), Joe Moran (Faithful Trustee Second Year), Hank Wasicki (Faithful Trustee First Year), and  Kirk Babyak (Assembly Membership Chairman).

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Connecticut State Knight of the Year to Len Moritz of Newtown. Mr Moritz is a loyal, active Knight and a member of St Virgilius Council 185 and 4th Degree Assembly 3230. He has served in numerous capacities, including Family Director, Deputy Grand Knight, Grand Knight, Trustee, and Faithful Navigator.

Mr Moritz is active in every aspect of Knights activities and many St Rose ministries and has donated his talents and countless hours to the construction of the nearly completed Knights of Columbus Building on the St Rose campus.
