June Waters, 89, of Newtown died peacefully December 23. She was born in Newark, N.J., daughter of the late Julia and George Dorer.

Mrs Waters attended William Smith College, Newark State Teacher's College, and Manhattanville College in Purchase, N.Y., where she earned her bachelor's degree and her teaching certificate.

During her career as an educator, she worked at the Harbin (China) Institute of Technology, and the Beijing Institute of Technology, also in China. Mrs Waters was also involved in a wide variety of organizations, including the US/China People's Friendship Association, the World Affairs Council, the Council on Foreign Relations, the American Association of University Women, the Travelers Century Club, and the Absecon (N.J.) Presbyterian Church.

Her sons and daughter-in-law, Kurt Waters and Kris and Barbara Waters; her grandsons, Michael and Thomas Waters; and her granddaughters, Kelsey, Molly, Lindsey, and Julia Waters survive her. Her husband, Richard Waters, and her son, Karl Waters, predeceased her.

Services are private under the direction of Parsels Funeral Home in Absecon.

Mrs Waters will be laid to rest next to her husband and son in Evergreen Cemetery, Hillside, N.J.
