John Saxonmeyer, 86, of Southport died peacefully at home from complications of Parkinson’s disease August 27, surrounded by his family. He was born October 23, 1928, in Westport, and was a US Army veteran, having served in Europe in World War II. He was a lifelong area resident.

His wife of 60 years, Evelyn (Danylko) Saxonmeyer; son and daughter-in-law, Ivan and Lisa Saxonmeyer of Newtown; his cherished grandson, Matthew Saxonmeyer of New York City; and two nephews survive Mr Saxonmeyer.

He loved music, and entertaining family and friends on the piano.

There are no calling hours, and private services will be at the convenience of the family.
