John Francis McKeever III

John Francis McKeever III, 79, of Sandy Hook, died peacefully at home, August 28, after a 13-year courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Greenwich, October 19, 1933, the son of John and Esther McKeever.

He served his country during the Korean War in the U S Navy, on the USS Albert T. Harris.

Mr McKeever worked as an electrician, and also had worked in the Maintenance Department at the Newtown Board of Education.

He was the husband of Deanna S. McKeever; father to Cindy L. Johnson of Colorado, and Wayne F. McKeever and John F. McKeever IV, both of Florida; stepfather to Tina Hovey of Waterbury, and William and Wayne Sherwood of Sandy Hook; loving grandfather of ten grandchildren; and great-grandfather of two.

Mr McKeever loved gardening and casinos. He was a member of the American Legion in Newtown and Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company.

A memorial service will be held at Newbury Congregational Church, 126 Tower Road in Brookfield, on Saturday, September 7, at 2 pm.
