Show Returning

Dolls, old and new are among the most popular of collectibles. They are as diverse as their enthusiasts, but the common thread among doll collectors seems to be the thrill of the hunt, and the joy of the find.

There are hundreds of doll-making traditions, from the ancient use of clay and wood, to the cloth and bisque creations of yesteryear, and the current run of vinyl and plastics. Each doll has a story of its own, an artist’s vision come true, an image in search of an owner to bring it to life.

The Jenny Lind Doll Club will present its Seventeenth Annual Newtown Antique and Collectible Doll Bear Show & Sale on Sunday, October 31. The event will run from 10 am to 4 pm at The Fireside Inn, 123 Main Street South (Route 25) in Newtown.

A doll hospital and appraisal table will be available at the show and sale. Assorted vendors will also be participating.

Admission is $4.50 for adults, and $1 for children.
