Jeannette Subik Jurman, 81, of Monroe, devoted wife to the late Rudolf Jurman, Jr, died peacefully in her home on July 23.

She will be remembered by her children and their spouses, David Jurman of Sandy Hook, Kenneth and Laura Jurman of Rockville, Va., Lisa and Robert Cedergren of Sandy Hook, Jacqueline Van Onselder of Wake Forest, N.C., Christopher Jurman of Newtown, and Stephen Jurman of Monroe; her cherished grandchildren, Gregory and Erik Jurman, Anna Claire Jurman, Britta, Hunter, and Gunnar Cedergren, and Brooke and Andrew Van Onselder; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Barbara Gergely of Stratford and Mickie Subik of Bridgeport; several nieces and nephews; a former daughter-in-law, Brenda Jurman; and a former son-in-law, Robert Van Onselder, who survive her.

In addition to her beloved husband Rudolf, her parents, Michael and Irene Snieder Subik, predeceased her.

Born and raised in Bridgeport, Mrs Jurman was a graduate of Bassick High School, and moved to Monroe in 1963. A dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she also helped with bookkeeping and office work for her family's company, Jurman Metrics.

Mrs Jurman adored music and was a talented singer. In high school, her choir participated in the All States. A longtime member of the Monroe Congregational Church, she was active in the choir and a volunteer for the Strawberry Festival. She loved to travel with her husband and family, especially to their family vacation home in St Croix, as well as to Arizona, Florida, and Europe. A generous person by nature, she touched many people in a positive way throughout her life.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, July 27, from 4 to 8 pm, in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center.

Her funeral will be on Friday, July 28, at 11 am, directly at Monroe Congregational Church, 34 Church Street, Monroe. Interment will follow in Monroe Center Cemetery.
