Jeanne Ann Oberg Granniss

Jeanne Ann Oberg Granniss, 82, formerly of Bridgeport and Newtown, died July 27 in Gloucester Point, Va. She was born in Bridgeport, May 14, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Rebecca (Muirhead) and Carl Oberg.

She graduated from Warren Harding High School and Butler Business School in Bridgeport.

Her daughter, Doreen “Bunny” Ekdahl, and husband Matthew “Mike,” of Gloucester Point, Va.; a son, Darren Granniss of Apex, N.C.; five grandchildren, Kristie Rodriguez, and husband Lester, Courtney Tate, and Brett O’Dell, all of Newtown, Shawn Granniss of Raleigh, N.C., and Kendra Granniss of New York City; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Oberg of Brookfield; a brother-in-law, William Ghent of Sandy Hook; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins survive Mrs Granniss.

Her husband, Kendall Granniss, who passed away in 2002; a brother, Charles Strobel, and his son; sister Gerri Cornell; and two sister-in-laws, Joan Oberg and Dorothy Ghent, predeceased Mrs Granniss.

A memorial service will take place at the Newtown United Methodist Church, Sandy Hook, at 11 am, Saturday, September 27. Burial will follow at Zoar Cemetery, Berkshire Road, Sandy Hook. Refreshments will be served at the church immediately following the burial service.
