Hockey Team Wins A Pair Of Games

Newtown High School's hockey team bounced back from a 10-4 loss at Housatonic-Northwestern on January 11 with a 9-3 road triumph over Mt Everett of Massachusetts two days later, and a 6-0 blanking of the Brookfield-Bethel-Danbury (BBD) team, at Danbury Ice Arena, on January 16.

In the win over Mt Everett, Domenic Cartelli had four goals and three assists, Cole Bepko scored twice, Scott McLean had a goal and two assists, and Peter Laferriere, and Jack Hanley also scored to lead the Nighthawks.

Against BBD, Cartelli lit the lamp twice, and Bepko, McLean, David Brestovansky, and Jiyei Hawke also scored, and goaltender Justin Halmose stopped 26 shots.

Newtown returns to the ice this Saturday, January 21, to take on Horace Greeley of New York, in Danbury, beginning at 2:20 pm.
