To the Editor:

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Steve Hinden for the Board of Finance. Steve, his wife, Barb, and son, Jacob, are 13-year residents of Newtown. He has an undergraduate degree from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a law degree from Fordham University. He has worked at IBM and Amex and is presently working at Willis, Towers and Watson.

I have known Steve and his family for over ten years. We have spent years together on the sidelines of baseball and basketball ,as well as other town activities, watching our boys grow. I have always enjoyed our conversations on local politics and how we can help our fellow Newtowners. I have known him to be hardworking, honest and compassionate and to truly care about the future of this town.

Steve believes that fiscal responsibility and education are our top priorities. He wants Newtown to have educational opportunities that differentiate us from other towns, while striving to be fiscally responsible. It is these priorities that I feel make Steve an ideal candidate for the job.

Steve decided to run for this position because he believes that it is more important to come together as a community. He believes that in this time of bipartisan politics it is our similarities that are more important than our differences. His principles of education with fiscal responsibility will help guide him as he navigates this difficult financial time our town and state will be facing.

Steve's business background and legal experience are exactly what we need on the Board of Finance. As a new member he can bring his knowledge, ethics, and his love of Newtown to the position. I believe he will be an excellent addition to the Newtown's Board of Finance.
