Hawley Slates An

‘International’ Night At Reed

Hawley Elementary School will hold an International Dinner for its students and families at Reed Intermediate School Friday, February 6, from 6 to 8:45 pm, that will bring students around the world through food, song and many other things.

Students will be encouraged to travel with “passports” to different lands, or craft booths that will be set up for the event. Italian, Chinese, Mexican, and more food will be available along with a spice table for children to smell and taste. Newtown High School students will also be on hand to teach different languages, and Francine Wheeler, with the Flagpole Radio Café, will be singing songs from different cultures for the night.

This is the second International Dinner held by the Hawley Elementary PTA. The event is “green,” and all traditional paper or plastic products will be replaced by those made from corn or sugar cane. The decorations for the night will include Heritage dolls, created by Hawley Elementary School third grade students.

For more information see the Hawley Elementary School PTA website, which is reachable through the school’s website at www.newtown.k12.ct.us/has, and print out an invitation. Checks for the event can be made payable to the Hawley Elementary School PTA.
