Student representatives of Hawley Elementary School's three kindergarten classes shared their dreams, written in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr, Day, at the Board of Education's meeting on January 16.

Representatives of Anne Fries, Donna Albano, and Deb Pond's classes attended the meeting to share their entries for the resent school project.

"Each year for Martin Luther King, Jr, Day, students write about their dreams, kindness, and happiness," Interim Superintendent of Schools Lorrie Rodrigue shared ahead of the presentation.

The students had the chance to read their dreams. Each entry was written on a large piece of blue paper that was also decorated with drawings to illustrate the dreams or wishes shared.

"Our children know that at the very young age of 5 or 6 that they can make a very positive impact in this world each and every day by making choices that make other people's hearts to feel happy and cared for," said Ms Pond, introducing the Hawley "kindergarten family."

"We feel very confident that Dr King would feel so very proud of our children tonight as they stand here before all of you to share their thoughts about what this beautiful world can be as a result of kindness, peace, understanding, love, appreciation, and the celebration of differences," said Ms Pond.

Each of the teachers helped their "kindergarten cuties" share their dreams before the school board and gathered members of the public.

One student said, "I have a dream that people will be happy." Another read, "I have a dream that everybody gets what they want for Christmas." Other students shared dreams of helping others, of having friends to play with, that the "Earth stays clean," that the world will be safe, that everyone will have a family, to help someone in need, and "that everyone's dreams come true."
