Harriett F. Danka, 90, of Newtown, beloved partner of Everette "Ed" Brower, died on February 10 at Danbury Hospital. She was born in Hartford on July 29, 1926, and spent her adolescent years in various orphanages. Curious about her birth family, she was unfortunately never able to uncover anything more than her known birth name, Macklin.

Mrs Danka retired from Bridgeport Metal Goods as a timekeeper and also held many jobs assisting others with shopping, cleaning, and care-giving throughout her community in Bridgeport, where she lived for many decades with her late husband, Alexander Danka, Sr. After Al's passing in 2006 she met her fiancé, Ed Brower, and has been blissfully happy with him for the past decade.

She very much enjoyed thrift and antique shopping, as well as visits from everyone in her family. Never short on sharing stories, she also made sure nobody went hungry while under her roof.

Her beloved son, Alexander Danka, Jr, survived her for four days, unfortunately passing away from a terminal illness soon after her own death. Now surviving Mrs Danka are her dear son's wife, Donna Danka, and her grandchildren: Alexander Danka III and his wife, Trisha; Kimberly McIntosh and her husband, Jamie; Jason Danka and his fiancée, Laura; Melissa Danka and her fiancé, Rob; and Danielle Danka. She is also survived by her step-grandsons, Michael Sagnelli and David Witkowski, and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs Danka's first great-great-grandchild is expected in March.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the medical staff of Danbury Hospital tenth floor Progressive Care Unit for their excellent care and warm bedside manner during Mrs Danka's final weeks.

The family will receive friends to honor both Mrs Danka and her son, Alexander's (aka "Rocky") lives on Saturday, February 25, from 1 to 4 pm at Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (Route 67, across from Klarides Village), Seymour.

Memorial donations may be made in Alexander's and/or Mrs Danka's name(s) to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago IL 60611.
