Gregory James Gallery Presenting Spring Art Show

NEW MILFORD — Gregory James Gallery is offering its first art show of the season, “Spring Art Show 2005,” through July 2.

The exhibition features new work by many of the gallery’s celebrated artists, including Rick Daskam, Joseph Grieco, Roger Kastel, Christopher Magadini, Alain Picard, Bill Rice, Anda Styler, and Danielle Wexler.

With this show, the gallery is pleased to introduce wildlife artist Scott Zuckerman. Mr Zuckerman, who lives in Cornwall Bridge, is nationally respected for his unique vigorous style. He has mastered the medium of watercolor and oil. Viewers should enjoy the subject as well as the execution of his paintings.

Mr Zuckerman is represented by some of the country’s best sporting and wildlife galleries where his work can be seen along with his heroes, Bruno Liljefors, Carl Runguis, George Brown and Frederick Remington.

Regular gallery artist Roger Kastel recently won second place at the second International Art Renewal Center Salon Competition in the still life category for his oil painting “Sculptor’s Studio II.” Mr Kastel was also honored recently when Fred Ross, the chairman and founder of The Art Renewal Center, purchased one of his paintings.

Rick Daskam, a Southbury artist known for his on-location landscape paintings of northwestern Connecticut, won Best in Show for his oil painting “Tall Trees” at a Hudson Valley Art Association show.

And Alain Picard’s latest work was inspired by his recent trip to Rwanda. He created a series of pastel figure paintings that will be used to raise funds for relief efforts in Rwanda.

One of his paintings, “Empty Cup,” won second place at the Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists “Faces of Spring 2005” competition.

Mr Picard also recently won Best in Show at the Connecticut Pastel Society Members Show 2005, for his painting “Afternoon Reverie.”

Gregory James Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm; Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday and Monday by appointment. The gallery is at 27 Main Street, on the historic New Milford Green.
