Girl Scout Display At Library

Newtown Girl Scouts have a display on scouting in the glass case outside the elevator on the first floor of the C.H. Booth Library.

There are uniforms from 1930 and 1954 and many photographs of the Newtown Girl Scouts at the recent camperee. Representations of ceremonies and activities are shown. Miniature replicas of gadgets are displayed.

October 31 was the anniversary of the birthday of Juliette Low, founder of the Girl Scout movement in the Unites States. Girl Scouts honor the birthday of Juliette Low in a variety of ways. Ms Low’s birthday is a time when organizers can be inventive when planning an activity. For a number of years the neighborhood sponsored a birthday party with a Halloween theme. This year during Halloween week, the Daisy, Brownie and Junior troops had the opportunity to go to Stew Leonard’s Fun House.

This exhibit on the first floor of the library in the hall outside the children’s room. It is available for viewing during regular library hours and will be there through Sunday, November 4.
