Gain A Curator’s Insight:

Try A Brown Bag Tour For Lunch

RIDGEFIELD — The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum has scheduled a series of Brown Bag Tours of its current exhibitions, featuring “Lisa Sigal” on July 13 and “Fred Wilson: Black Like Me” on August 10.

These Wednesday programs for adults include a docent-guided tour of the exhibitions followed by lunch discussion with a museum curator.

Brown Bag Tours are held on Wednesdays from 11 am to 1 pm. Cost is $7, and participants are asked to provide their own brown bag lunch and drink; the museum provides coffee, tea and dessert.

Lisa Sigal’s ambitious wall paintings incorporate actual architectural elements of the space like windows and molding, with both trompe l’oeil and her characteristic abstraction to form explosive compositions.

Fred Wilson, the recipient of the 2002 Larry Aldrich Foundation Award and a previous representative of the US at the Venice Biennale, explores the medium of glass in his exhibition “Black Like Me.”

The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is at 258 Main Street (Route 35) in Ridgefield. Reservations for the Brown Bag Tours are requested. Call 202-438-4519.
