Friendship Offers $20,000 Scholarship

Friendship Cottage Cheese will award a total of $20,000 in scholarship money to 16 eligible high school seniors across Connecticut who have been accepted at an accredited college or university for the fall 2005 semester. Two students from each county in the state will be awarded from $1,000 to $3,000 in scholarship money. The sixth annual Project Friendship Scholarship serves as a thank you to Connecticut residents for their support of Friendship Cottage Cheese. The deadline to submit applications for the scholarship is March 15.

To be eligible, applicants must be graduating high school seniors residing in Connecticut. Selection criterion is based on academic achievement (3.0 or higher GPA) and demonstration of leadership in school and/or community volunteer activities that promote a safe and friendly environment.

In addition to submitting a completed Project Friendship Scholarship Application (accessible through FriendshipDairies.com), applicants must submit letters of recommendation from a teacher familiar with the applicant’s academic ability and a nonschool-related community leader who is familiar with the student’s volunteer activities. Also, students must include their four-year academic transcript, a detailed list of school and community volunteer work, and a 1,000-word or less essay explaining how the applicant has made their high school a friendlier place and/or how they plan to use their education to make the world a friendlier place.
