The Ashurst Academy of Irish Dance has a studio at 3 Simm Lane. It was recently voted Connecticut's Best Dance Studio for Kids.

The academy opened in 2016 under the direction of Craig and Christina Ashurst, who are former lead dancers of Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. The Ashursts both hold certification from Dublin, Ireland, to teach Irish dancing and hold more than 20 regional, national, and international Irish dance titles.

The academy's students have already achieved success at the New England Regional Championships including numerous podium placements and have also performed with PBS stars The Celts and the Celtic Tenors. The school was recently featured on WTNH and voted "Best New Business" in Newtown, as well.
