Grandparents were welcomed at Fraser Woods Montessori School on Monday, May 11, during the school’s annual Grandparents Day event.

Food and beverages were served in the school’s commons, and all the attendees were welcomed to the event by Head of School Myriam Woods in the school’s gymnasium.

Ms Woods said this year’s Grandparents Day at Fraser Woods is a special one, with the school marking its 15th year at its South Main Street location.

After the grandparents were welcomed, they visited different classrooms to do activities with their grandchildren.

In one room, a group of students and two grandparents worked on a science project to create a structure out of pipe cleaners and straws that would be able to hold up a toy car.

In another room, grandparents Kim and Bernice Greene were helping their granddaughter Zoe Upshaw read different cards.

Ms Woods, while making her way between the different classrooms, said she also met one grandmother, Kathleen McKay, who has attended 13 of the annual Grandparents Day events held over the last 15 years.

Ms McKay said attending the event for her three grandchildren over the years has been an honor.

Fraser Woods Montessori School student Nathanial Varda and his grandmother Marilyn Craughwell sat together on Monday, May 11, during the school’s annual Grandparents Day event.
