Four Charged

Police report that they arrested four people on November 17 in connection with a burglary at Glen Road Auto Body, LLC, at 104 Glen Road in Sandy Hook.

Police said they received a call at about 6 am reporting a burglary at the business, after which they responded to investigate.

Each of the four people arrested was charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, and third-degree criminal mischief, police said.

Police said they arrested three people under age 18 at about 6:45 am. One person was arrested at the business and two others were arrested nearby, police said. Police did not disclose the names of those people because state law shields their identities.

Also, police arrested Christopher Lee Mulligan, 18, of 44 Botsford Hill Road at 8:45 am at his residence.

Police said the items taken in the incident were about $300 worth of auto parts.

Police said Mulligan was released on $1,000 bail for a December 4 appearance in Danbury Superior Court. The three youths were released into the custody of their parents on written promises to appear in Danbury Juvenile Court on December 3.

Automotive Key

At about 5 pm on November 15, a person brought a found automotive key to the police station for safekeeping.

Police said that the key was found at the soccer field near the intersection of Turkey Hill Road and Peck’s Lane. The key is silver-colored and has a black head on it which bears a Chevrolet insignia. The key is attached to a green identification tag, police said.

The owner may contact police to claim the key.

Marijuana

Police report that at about 1:40 pm on November 10, they spotted several vehicular parking violations along Old Mill Road, in the area off Berkshire Road where the state owns open space land.

Police said that their investigation found a group of people at that property, as well as some drug paraphernalia.

Police report that they seized some marijuana from one adult and also from one person under age 18. Police said they issued a local 18-year-old man an infraction ticket for possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana. That charge carries a $150 fine.

Also, police said they issued a youth under age 18 a juvenile summons for possession of less than four ounces of marijuana. That violation requires an appearance in Danbury Juvenile Court. Police did not identify that person because the person is under age 18.

Also, police said they issued five infractions for improper parking.

 

Evading Responsibility

Police said they received a report of a vehicular accident in which the driver fled the scene at about 7:18 pm on November 11 on Glen Road in Sandy Hook.

Police said that their investigation determined that motorist Lindsey Vanyo, 21, of Bethlehem, who was driving a 2007 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, had struck some metal guardrailing and then drove away.

Police report that they located the Honda a short time later in a nearby parking lot. Also, police said they located Vanyo at 282 South Main Street, which is a fast food restaurant. Vanyo was transported by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Danbury Hospital to be treated for a minor injury, police said.

Police said they charged her with evading responsibility and with making a restricted turn. Police said they released her on a written promise to appear in court.

Larceny Charge

After learning that police held a warrant for her arrest, Ysidra Guerrero, 29, of Danbury went to the police station at about 10:30 pm on November 14 and was charged with one count of fifth-degree larceny, police said.

Police said that the charge stems from a May 19 incident involving a fraudulent check. After processing, police released Guerrero on $500 bail for a November 28 court appearance.

Property Damage

Police said they are seeking information about some intentional damage that was done to a residence in Sandy Hook near the intersection of Pole Bridge Road, Philo Curtis Road, Jeremiah Road, and Misty Vale Road. That damage occurred sometime between 2:30 and 5:45 pm on November 14. The damage included a broken front window and a broken glass back door, police said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police at the police station at 203-426-5841.

DUI Incident

Police report that they charged a local man with three offenses following a two-vehicle accident that occurred on Church Hill Road near Main Street at about 1:30 am on November 18.

Police said they charged Garrett Clark, 29, with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, and with failure to drive to the right, following the accident in which he was driving a 2003 Ford Ranger pickup truck that collided with a 2002 Audi All-Road SUV driven by a local man. There were no injuries.

Police listed two addresses for Clark — 114 Church Hill Road and 24 Mohawk Trail. Clark was scheduled to appear in court to answer the charges, police said.

South Main Street

Motorist Holly Kocet, 56, of 2 Karen Boulevard, who was driving a 2007 Mazda 3 sedan northward near 160 South Main Street about 1:06 pm on November 15, stopped behind a noncontact vehicle that was making a left turn into a commercial driveway, police said.

A northbound 2004 Ford Escape SUV driven by Melissa Christiano, 17, of Bethel, then struck the rear end of the Mazda, police said.

There were no injuries. Christiano received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.

Chrysler Vs Volvo

After traveling southward on South Main Street, motorist Kelly Albrecht, 33, of 100 Boggs Hill Road, who was driving a 2006 Volvo XC-90 SUV, stopped in order to make a left turn near 259 South Main Street at about 5:16 pm on November 16, police said.

Southbound motorist Deepak Krishan, 55, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2008 Chrysler 300 sedan, then struck the rear end of the Volvo, police said.

Albrecht was evaluated by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, but refused medical attention, police said. Police said they issued Krishan a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Sedan Smashed

Police report that at about 11:45 am on November 17, an unknown motorist struck the driver’s side of a gray 2010 Nissan Altima sedan thar was parked in the parking lot near Olympia Sports at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street, damaging the Nissan. The motorist then drove away without reporting the accident, police said. Police are investigating the incident and ask anyone with knowledge of it to contact them at 203-426-5841.

Dodge Vs Suzuki

At about 6:22 pm on November 17, motorist Maria Watson, 52, of Monroe, who was driving a 2005 Suzuki coupe southward on South Main Street, slowed in preparing to make a right turn onto Blue Spruce Drive, police said.

Southbound motorist Rachel Mendes, 18, of Carmel, N.Y., who was driving a 2001 Dodge Durango SUV, then struck the rear end of the Suzuki, police said.

Both Maria Watson and Suzuki passenger Sabrina Watson, 25, of the same address in Monroe, were transported to Danbury Hospital, police said.

Mendes received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police report.
